Isaiah 26:3-4, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”
The Hebrew word for “stayed” in Isaiah 26:3 is samak which means “to lean upon or take hold.” Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”
The inspired Holy Bible promises peace to those who trust upon the Lord. John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” The world's peace is rooted in money, acceptance by peers and security. But these things are only temporal. The peace that Jesus gives transcends the material world. That is why Paul and Silas could sing spiritual hymns while shackled in ankle irons and chains in prison awaiting execution.
