John 14:1-3, The Promise Of A Home In Heaven

John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

I love this precious passage of Scripture. I learned something very helpful and important years ago about studying the Bible. The original Greek New Testament was written in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. Yes, it is true. In fact, did you know that the Old Testament Hebrew language is read from right to left, instead of left to right as we do in our English language. Interesting, huh? In the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts of the Bible, there is no pronunciation marks. Wow! There are no periods, commas, parenthesis, et cetera. These grammatical marks were added by men centuries later.

What I want you to notice mainly right now is that there were no chapter divisions in the original Bible. It was the early church elders who discerning where on chapter ended and the next began. This why we often see a chapter of the Bible begin with word “Therefore.” For example: We see that Hebrews chapter 12 begins with the word “Wherefore.” This word refers back to everything said in Hebrews chapter 11, which is commonly referred to as The Hall Of Faith.” In chapter 11 we read about the Old Testament patriarchs who BY FAITH” did many wonderful works. By faith Noah moved with fear of God and built an ark. By faith David went out to fight Goliath. By faith Rahab his the Israelite spies. Chapter 12 continues, on the basis of what we read in chapter 11. So to understand Hebrews chapter 12, we need to go back and read chapter 11.

Likewise, in John 14:1-3, it is important that we go back to chapter 13, as if there were no chapter division. Jesus had just told the Apostle Peter that he would deny Him three times. So in chapter 14 the Lord encourages Peter to let him know that He's going to prepare a place for Him. The Lord encourages Peter by promising Him a home in Heaven, where there are mansions. The greatest promise here is simply being with the Lord someday. John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.The great joy of the Lord's promise to go prepare a place for us in Heaven, is BEING WITH JESUS HIMSELF!!! Heaven wouldn't be Heaven without Jesus. ...

I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus
Since I found in Him a friend so strong and true;
I would tell you how He changed my life completely,
He did something that no other friend could do.
No one ever cared for me like Jesus;
There's no other friend so kind as He.
No one else could take the sin and darkness from me;
Oh how much He cares for me.

The Lord is preparing a physical place for every believer to live in Heaven. Heaven is a physical place. The Lord resurrected in a fleshly physical body, seen by over 500 believers at one time (1st Corinthians 15:6). The Lord physically ascended into the heavens (Acts 1:9-11). Colossians 3:1-3 says that the Lord is seated on the right hand of the Father. A throne is a concrete object, not abstract. God the Father has a physical body. The only begotten Son has a physical body.

Modalism is a false doctrine, which teaches that God enters into different modes, and that Jesus does not have His own separate body. Modalism effectively denies the Triune nature of God, that is, the Godhead. Anybody who denies the Trinity is not saved. The Godhead (Romans 1:20; Acts 17:29; Colossians 2:9) is a fundamental doctrine of the Christian faith. A new convert may not know about the Trinity (the theological term for the Godhead), but in time they will learn about it. If a person denies Christ's deity, the Godhead or other fundamental doctrines of the Bible, even after being taught properly from the Bible, it evidences that they do not have the Holy Spirit of God in them.

Heaven is a physical place. The Bible teaches that Heaven is located in the north. I wrote a whole article about this interesting truth. I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to going to Heaven. I lost my home after my former wife divorced me in 2006. Greedy lawyers will take everything you have friend. I have needed to hire a lawyer 2 times in my life, and they took nearly everything I owned. Lawyers are not good people. In fact, there's not a more hated and contemptible profession. That is what makes the Lord's promise of a home in Heaven all that more wonderful, because no one can take it from me. In Matthew 6:19-20 the Lord makes this very point, Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

That is why I have worked so hard day and night on my website ministry since 2002—thieves cannot steal it, lawyers cannot take it, rust cannot corrode it, moths cannot corrupt it, water cannot soil it, fire cannot burn it, time cannot dry rot it—I have guaranteed treasures in Heaven! Playboy founder Hugh Hefner (1926-2017) died and left behind a mansion worth $100,000,000. You'll never see a U-Haul towing behind a hearse! That's because you cannot take it with you!!! Dear friend, but you CAN lay up treasures in Heaven. I am so happy to be a Christian. I sometimes cannot believe that I am one of the few (Matthew 7:13-15).

Why only a few? Most people who profess to be a Christian are deceived by the Devil, trusting in more than faith alone, which is why they are not really Christians. No one is saved who thinks more than faith is required to be saved. That is why Marty Herron, Steve Pettit, Gary Walton, John MacArthur, Bob Jones University and Harvest Baptist Church of Guam are NOT saved, because they all teach that faith alone is not enough to be saved. They all teach that in addition to faith, you must turn away from a lifestyle of sinning to receive God's free gift of eternal life. They will find out someday just how wrong they are! Christ came to save us from our sins, not we ourselves from them. The true Gospel always points you to Christ; a false gospel always points to you. All false gospels include faith in Jesus Christ, plus more.

Dear friend, I want to see you in Heaven someday. You too can have the 100% absolute assurance that you are saved, right now, and that you have a home being prepared for you in Heaven. The clarity of the Gospel is the lens by which you study the rest of the Scripture. So many preachers today have the plan of salvation wrong, preaching a polluted false gospel. Any theology that does not offer immediate absolute assurance of salvation by faith alone is wrong! Trust Him now friend. John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

Simply receive Christ's sacrifice on the cross as payment for your sins, believing that He was buried and bodily resurrected three days later (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). Make Jesus your only hope for eternal life and you have it!!! 1st John 5:20, “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” Salvation is receiving, not achieving. Salvation is a take proposition, not a give proposition. You LOOK to live, you don't LIVE to look. Isaiah 45:22, “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” You get saved by childlike faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Anybody who says more is required is a liar!
