John 3:16-17, The Promise Of Eternal Life

John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

That has always been one of my favorite Bible passages! Ask any Bible preacher to give a Scripture showing the heart of the Bible, and I think many would cite John 3:16. This single verse in the Gospel of John sums it all up... “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son...I have a hard time understanding how some preachers can claim that God hates homosexuals. No dear friend, homosexuals are sinners just like adulterers and drug dealers, just like prostitutes and indifferent pastors, just like woeful sinners like you and me.

The only thing that makes me more righteousness than the vilest menacing sinner on the planet is God's righteousness, which was imputed to me at the time I was saved by faith alone. Philippians 3:9, “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:” You see friend, you and I have no righteousness to offer God. Isaiah 64:6 declares that even our “righteousnesses are as filthy rags to God.

You may have heard from some lying preacher that you cannot be saved unless you “repent and turn away from your sin.” Literally, Calvinists and advocates of Lordship Salvation demand that your forsake your sinful bad habits to have eternal life. Truth be told, that's not good enough to please God. You could turn from every one of your sins, and never sin again, but still burn in Hell forever. To enter into the Kingdom of God you MUST be 100% perfect in every way!!! Since you and I are incapable of even making it through an hour without sinning, we need a perfect Savior. Thankfully, we have One. His precious name is Jesus!!!

John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.Do you know why Jesus didn't have to condemn the world? It is because sin has already done that! Romans 5:18, “Therefore as by the offence of one [Adam] judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [Jesus] the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. When Adam chose to join his wife in sinning, he opened a Pandora's Box upon the world (Romans 5:12).

Since Adam, all humans have been born spiritually dead, separated from God because of sin. Ephesians 2:1, “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;” The blessed Holy Spirit comes to live inside every believer at the time of salvation (Galatians 3:2). The moment that you BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior (Acts 16:30-31), placing your confidence in Him to save you (Romans 10:13), God reads your mind and works the supernatural miracle of the new birth. You are immediately indwelt and sealed with the wonderful person of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:12-15; Romans 8:9; 1st John 3:24). Your body is now the sacred temple of the Holy Spirit (1st Corinthians 3:16-17).

The biggest problem with the teaching that you must repent and turn away from your sin to be saved is simply that IT IS NOT IN THE BIBLE!!! Here is a wonderful edifying sermon by Pastor Dennis Rokser called: “Getting The Gospel Right And Wrong”...
